Description:The Onsite Sales Supervisor is responsible for providing friendly and professional customer service to the donors and members of the Detroit Zoological Society in a timely and efficient manner and the fulfillment of financial transactions as related to the Membership Department.
Duties:• Performs all duties that are required while leading the Membership Tent and the Membership Booth staff.
• Sells memberships and other fundraising items (adopt an animal, train passes, pavers, etc.)
• Opens membership sales areas. Creates a clean and welcoming environment. Ensures that electronics and phone lines are in working order prior to zoo opening.
• Gets banks and distributes them to appropriate personnel.
• Directs the staff and ensures that onsite personnel adequately staff each area.
• Greets and interacts with guests in a friendly, professional manner.
• Fills out paperwork clearly and accurately.
• Admits members and their guests into the zoo (ensures members are complying with their membership categories. Charges admission to guests who are with the member and are not included on the card.)
• Ensures membership line is at a minimum. Directs employees to scan line or work in busier areas throughout the day.
• Is familiar with all facets of the zoo and able to direct guests in any way that is necessary
• Is accountable for all sales.
• Puts drops of money in the safe throughout the day.
• Helps staff complete accurate closeouts. Checks their work. If their closeout is off, helps find the error.
• Delivers sales to accounting office via security transport. Ensures all sales and monies are delivered in a timely manner.
• Helps with any guest crisis or problem that may arise. Assists Onsite Staff as needed with service recovery.
• Prepares and adjusts work schedules for all staff and supervise staff on a daily basis.
• Accurately completes all employee timecards and submits as required by payroll and as directed by Guest Relations Manager.
• Help with any crisis that should arise (lost child, Code Adam, etc.).
• Responds to emergencies by notifying proper authorities and following instructions.
• Uses independent judgment to direct and evaluate the actions of subordinates, including creating schedules, making work assignments, issuing discipline when needed, recommending hiring, firing, transfer, etc.
• Maintains premises in a clean and orderly condition, reporting malfunctioning equipment, wear and tear, damage, and theft, providing written reports as needed.
• Complies with all federal, state, local, and organizational policies/procedures.


WORKING CONDITIONS
Work locations are determined by season, event, and volume of visitors. Work is largely performed outdoors with exposure to all seasonal weather conditions and elements and on occasion, indoors in an office environment with some exposure to computer monitors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform the principle duties of the job. Requires moderate physical effort on a daily basis such as walking, bending, stooping and standing for extended periods of time. Must be able to use a computer and telephone, file documents accurately, communicate with employees, members, and guests and use reasoning and calculation skills. Must be able to lift and move 25 pounds.

• Be personable, positive, and friendly
• Ability to interact with the general public in a professional and efficient manner
• Comfortable using computer and cash register
• Basic math skills are required
• Prior leadership experience preferred
