| Description: | The Overnight Instructor will teach during the Zoo’s overnight program, “Animals After Dark,” for the 2012 season. Instructors will lead and assist with overnights on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the year.
Instructors will spend the entire night, from 6p.m. to 10a.m. at the Zoo with program participants, and may be exposed to a variety of weather conditions.
Candidates must attend an orientation and training prior to beginning work.

| Duties: | • Lead and assist with tours throughout the Zoo, activities, snack and breakfast preparations, set-up and clean-up before and after programs.
• Responsible for effective communication with other staff and volunteers.

| Qualifications: | • Completion or working toward a Bachelor’s degree in biology, education, or related field.
• At least one year of working with children in informal education. (Must be over 18 years of age.)
• Familiar with concepts and issues of biology, environmental or life sciences, animal welfare and husbandry, and similar disciplines preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with diverse audiences.
• Must hold a valid operator license with an excellent driving record, chauffer license preferred.
• Current CPR, First Aid Certification preferred
• Candidates must be dependable, energetic, flexible and willing to assist with other education projects as requested.
• Must be available for a flexible work schedule that includes days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
Work Environment
Work will be performed in an outdoor environment in various conditions. Employees must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. While performing the duties of these jobs, the employee is exposed to seasonal weather conditions and the total Zoo environment. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. The employee must be able to lift and move 25 pounds.
