| Description: | The Human Resources Internship is an un-paid, for credit only, intern position at the Detroit Zoological Society. The Intern will work 16-25 hours per week with the Human Resources Team.
Under the general direction and supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Intern provides general clerical support, assembles and maintains highly confidential information and assists with special projects.
This internship will provide hands-on experience and involve all facets of the Human Resources Division. The intern will be responsible for projects and be assigned specific areas of responsibility during the internship based on personal interest, education, experience and Human Resources Division needs.
Credit:
Students must provide information from their school on internship requirements as well as the certification documentation necessary to receive credit.

| Duties: | Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Perform a variety of highly responsible confidential clerical and administrative duties for the Human Resources Department;
• Maintains confidential HR records (both written and electronic), which includes routine filing and updating of employment related documents, as assigned;
• Perform background checks;
• Assist with correspondence to job applicants;
• Work confidentially with discretion;
• Work independently with little direction; maintains an organized workflow and is able to determine priorities;
• Assemble hiring and benefits packets;
• Assist with seasonal hiring;
• Interact with employees and candidates to provide information and answer questions in an accurate and knowledgeable manner;
• Perform related duties as assigned.

| Qualifications: | • Junior or Senior level college students enrolled in Human Resources or Business degree programs
• The student MUST be eligible to earn college credit for the internship
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint; Internet proficiency
• Be detail-oriented and have excellent organization and communication skills
• Be open to meeting new people and working on a variety of tasks and projects
• Creative, responsible, friendly, and enthusiastic
• Ability to meet deadlines and work in a timely manner
