Description:The Maintenance Technician II, under supervision, maintains and makes repairs to buildings, related structures and pertinent equipment therein; and performs related work as required.
Duties:Refrigeration/Low-Pressure Boilers:
Operates and maintains large central absorption and compression refrigeration installations. Maintain self-contained refrigeration units. Operate and maintain heating and ventilation installations by: inspecting, adjusting or making minor or emergency repairs to pumps, steam lines, valves, traps and regulating devices, water and drainage systems, electrical lighting and control circuits, fans, fixtures, switches, etc.
Qualifications:Minimum
• Valid Third Class Refrigeration Equipment Operator’s License as required for employees working with this equipment.
• Valid Low-Pressure Boiler Operator License as required for employees working with this equipment.
• Refrigerant transition and recovery certificate desired for employees working with refrigeration equipment.
• Will be required, when necessary, to operate a motor vehicle; valid state of Michigan Driver’s License required. May need to possess valid State of Michigan Commercial Drivers License.
• Graduation from a four-year high school, trade, or vocational high school; or GED.
• Specific knowledge, background, skills, ability, and journeyman status/licensure as required in one or more of the following areas: plumbing, electrical, boiler operations, refrigeration, building trades worker, construction equipment operator.
• Knowledge of the methods, tools, materials, and equipment used.
• Mechanical aptitude; industry and initiative in handling problems.
• Willingness to learn and perform any assigned task.
• Tact in dealing with others.
• Physically and mentally capable of performing all the duties of the position.
• Required to provide the tools necessary to perform the work assigned.

Preferred
• Associate’s Degree in relevant field.
• One year of prior experience.
