Description:The Seasonal Facilities Assistant under the direction of the assigned supervisor will assist facilities staff with the completion of general unskilled tasks.
Duties:•Performs general outdoor maintenance work
•Cuts grass, rakes leaves, removes weeds and brush
•Maintains landscaping, shrubbery, trees and gardens in assigned areas
•Stencils walks, parking lots, and other surfaces as directed
•Maintains structures, walks, and ponds
•Performs routine maintenance on trails
•Assists with split rail maintenance
•Assists in enforcement of park ordinances, crowd control, etc.
•Operates equipment necessary, i.e. mowers, weed trimmers, hand tools, etc., in the performance of duties in a safe and appropriate manner
•Loads and unloads materials
•Picks up and transports parts and equipment as assigned
•Assists with event preparation and disassembly
•Other duties as assigned

Working Conditions
Work is conducted both inside and outside and may include work in adverse weather with outside environment, heights and exposures. Position involves exposure to all types of weather, air conditioning and heating systems. May be required to walk long distances through the facility, to operate mechanical equipment, and to enter a variety of support, exhibit, and other buildings. The regular work schedule may include weekends.

Physical Requirements
Physical work is part of the job and includes walking, standing, stooping, kneeling and bending for long periods of times; must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. The individual must have the ability to perform essential functions of the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualifies individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Qualifications:•High school diploma.
•General working knowledge of buildings and grounds maintenance
•General knowledge of basic math and reading
•Must be able to use a computer
•Must have a driver’s license in order to drive a golf cart or other Society vehicles
•Ability to perform heavy manual labor
•Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe manner
•Ability to operate trucks, tractors and power equipment safely
•Ability to follow detailed instructions, which may be oral and/or written
•Ability to read and interpret a variety of maps
•Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
•Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff and the public
•Ability to work the required hours of the position
